Frequently asked questions
We're always here to help answer any questions you may have!
It depends on what you need instructors to be able to do. The Foundation Course is designed for operators who want to upskill existing instructors quickly to lead safe, effective group Reformer classes using YR digital content — it's faster to complete, and doesn't require prior Reformer experience. The Teacher Training Certification is a fully accredited qualification that allows instructors to teach in any setting, including private and one-on-one, and is recognised internationally. If your instructors need full industry credentials, the Certification is the right pathway. If you need consistent, brand-aligned group class delivery across your locations, the Foundation Course will get you there faster and at lower cost per head.
Graduates of the Foundation Course receive a competency certificate confirming they are qualified to lead group Reformer classes within your studio or facility. It is not a portable, industry-wide qualification. The Teacher Training Certification, by contrast, is AUSactive-accredited and internationally recognised — meaning instructors can teach anywhere, list the credential publicly, and meet insurance and facility requirements that specify a recognised Pilates qualification. If your instructors are building a career in Pilates, the Certification is the qualification they need.
Yes. The Foundation Course is designed as a stepping stone. Graduates who want to pursue the full AUSactive-accredited Teacher Training Certification can do so at a discounted rate when coming through the Foundation pathway.
Trained instructors directly improve class quality, member experience, attendance, and retention — all of which drive stronger monthly revenue. At a facility level, structured education reduces reliance on external recruitment, improves consistency across locations and instructors, and streamlines onboarding. The Foundation Course is particularly suited to operators with multiple locations or spread teams who need a scalable, cost-effective upskilling solution. The Teacher Training Certification supports long-term staff development and retention, giving instructors a clear professional pathway within your business.
For the Foundation Course, a Level 3/4 Personal Training qualification, Mat Pilates Level 3, or existing Reformer certificate is recommended, but instructors from fitness, movement, and healthcare backgrounds are welcome to apply. For the Teacher Training Certification, no prior Reformer experience is required. Both courses are designed to take instructors from their current level to confident, class-ready teaching.
Both courses are designed so graduates are class-ready from day one. The Foundation Course qualifies instructors to lead group Reformer classes using YR digital content, while the Teacher Training Certification qualifies instructors to teach in both group and private settings.
Foundation Course graduates also receive additional support in their first weeks of independent teaching through two virtual mentoring sessions with a YR Master Trainer. And with InstructorPro, development doesn't stop at graduation — monthly content uploads and structured class templates help instructors continue to grow long after the course is complete
Yes. The certification is accredited by AUSactive and is internationally recognised, aligning graduates with accepted industry standards across markets. This is particularly relevant for instructors who want to teach in multiple countries, work across facilities with different insurance requirements, or build a standalone Pilates teaching career.
Yes. The Foundation Course is available in both face-to-face and virtual formats.
